Welcome to the Central Iowa MINI Club

With the December 2010 opening of MINI of Des Moines, several Des Moines area owners felt it would be appropriate to form a MINI club that catered to the interests of Central Iowa owners. It was believed that sales of MINIs in the area would significantly increase the number of MINIs on the road and provide sufficient numbers of owners that having a club for them made sense. The primary purpose of the club would be to provide more frequent MINI-related events in which owners could participate. Such events could range from just going on a social drive for ice cream to various gimmick rallyes to any other kind of driving or MINI-related event members wished to have.

Beginning in mid-January 2011, seven like-minded residents of the Des Moines area began meeting to do the ground-work necessary for having a club. Those involved were: Randy and Deb Anderson, Janis Fox, Lyle Kreps, Jake Meyer, Bill Sansenbach, and Roger Sitterly. Steve Myers, who established the web site, joined the group after the second meeting. Several meetings were held during January and February; a logo was selected, this web site was established, posts soliciting interested owners were made on the Iowa Yahoo MINI Cooper bulletin board, an e-mail distribution list was assembled, and plans were made for the first event to be held Saturday, April 2, 2011.
